The privately financed Dutch company named as Mars One planning to set up a space colony on Mars by 2023. The primary aim is to send four astronauts on one way journey to Mars. Colonists will reside on the mars for their whole life and will eliminates the difficulties to returning to Earth. Every two years after that another group will join to populate the colony. The settlement of four astronauts and settling a colony will cost approximately $6 billion according to New York Daily News.
This organisation has a great plan but the only requirement is plenty of financial resources and four astronauts who are willing to travel one way to the red planet and ready to spend their whole life on Mars. Now, the only question arise how to get financial resources into this assignment, Who is going to sponsor it ??
Bas Lansdorp, who is a co-founder of Mars One has a very distinct approach to fund this project. He described in two words "Media Exposure". He adds, they will finance this mission by creating biggest media event ever in world. He also added, large corporations are eager to advertise and sponsor this mission.
Lansdorp also clarifies that, it is going to be a Real Reality TV show. In which we don't have to add fake things. In this show, suspense, thrill and adventure is automatically included. So everyone can see the only reality, like what preparation is going on Mars and What challanges faced by crew members ??
This is an intellectual project by people with extraordinary vision. Dr Gerard Hooft, who won the noble prize in physics in 1999 is heading a mission as a mission ambassador. Dr. hooft also mentioned in email to The Huffington Post, I think this the best way to establish a human colony on red planet.
It sounds like science fiction fantasy but the Dutch Company Mars One says its for real, still having some great plans and research doesn't makes easy to work on this project. So they have decided to work on this assignment into various steps.
The primary step is to send communication satellite on mars in 2016 and then send rovers on the mars in 2018, which will stake out and find suitable location for colonize and then construct living units. Besides essential needs like water and oxygen, the set-up process will also indulge Atmosphere Production to guarantee colonists survival.
According to Mars One, Next year they will launch a selection process for astronauts to recognize the suitable colonist and the astronauts will undergo about a decade of training. If everything goes according to their plans then only they can launch astronauts on specific date of 14th September, 2022 and the journey time will ten months.
This is something that has amazing historic value- The transformation of humanity from one planet to another planet and it also contributes and inspires the youth to new inventions and transformations.
